A Detailed 7 Days Uganda Self Drive Safari Itinerary
Upon your arrival at the airport, a representative will be present to welcome you and facilitate your transfer to your hotel in Entebbe for the night. Dinner will be served based on your time of arrival.

Day 1: Drive to Kibale Forest National Park
Today, you will drive from your hotel following breakfast to commence your journey to Kibale Forest National Park “the primate capital”. The journey traverses Uganda’s countryside, passing numerous agricultural lands, homesteads, roadside fruit and vegetable markets, and forests. The only stops you’ll make aside from these intriguing sights are to use the restrooms and stretch if necessary.
You will enjoy lunch in the picturesque town of Fort Portal, featuring stunning views of the Rwenzori Mountains and lush green lawns. After lunch, explore the Bigodi village on a swamp walk. Besides the swamp, you will also visit different homes to learn how to make coffee, banana bread, baskets, and native medicines.

Day 2: Chimpanzee trekking in Kibale National Park and transfer to Queen Elizabeth National Park
Today marks the day for chimpanzee tracking in Kibale National Park, renowned as the primate capital of the world. Following your breakfast, you will drive to the briefing location prior to the chimpanzee trekking experience. The knowledgeable ranger guide will provide a briefing on what to anticipate and how to behave in the forest.

Following the briefing, you will embark on a hike through the tropical forest, offering an unforgettable and rewarding experience in pursuit of our closest relatives, the Chimpanzees. You are permitted one hour in their presence following your successful location of them. Your journey continues to Queen Elizabeth National Park, traversing the Crater Lakes region while taking in the stunning views of the Rwenzori Mountain ranges. You may choose to enjoy a late breakfast before making preparations to depart thereafter.
You may spend the afternoon “free” at your lodge, where you may rest and relax. You may also go on a game drive through the park before returning to your lodge, or you may go for a village walk around your lodge in the afternoon.

Day 3: Game drive and boat cruise
Africa hosts an extensive and unparalleled diversity of species in their natural habitats. Queen Elizabeth National Park boasts the highest biodiversity of any protected area in Africa. The best time for observing wildlife is in the morning, as predators are actively searching for prey before retreating into concealment. Experience the unique and diverse species, including elephants, lions, buffaloes, and numerous others.
In the afternoon, embark on a boat cruise along Kazinga Channel, leading to Lake Edward, where you will observe a variety of wildlife that frequents its waters, as well as the diverse bird species that inhabit the area.

Day 4, Game Drive and Drive to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park
Drive through the Ishasha sector to observe the tree-climbing lions before proceeding to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park.
Ishasha represents the southern sector of Queen Elizabeth National Park, renowned for its unique tree-climbing lions. Following their meals, these predators tend to ascend fig trees to rest, enjoy the breeze, and maintain a clear vantage point to observe their prey, aided by the tall savanna grass.

You will depart for the Ishasha sector to observe the lions, various bird species, and other mammals. Following this, you will continue to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park, which is home to half of the world’s remaining mountain gorillas and is recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

Day 5: Gorilla Trekking in Uganda
The grand safari adventure in the “jungles of Africa” would not be complete without a day spent in the thick forest surrounded by the massive yet gentle mountain gorillas.The experience of trekking through Bwindi Impenetrable Forest in pursuit of gorillas is truly exceptional. A briefing will be conducted by the ranger guides, after which participants will be organized into groups to track various gorilla families.
You will proceed to hike through the forest in pursuit of the gorillas, accompanied by a ranger guide. Upon locating the gorillas with your ranger guide, you will have the opportunity to observe them for one hour, after which you will commence your walk out of the forest.

Day 6: Proceed to Lake Mburo National Park
Following the thrilling encounter with the gorillas in Bwindi Impenetrable Forest, your driver guide will collect you after breakfast to commence the journey to the serene and picturesque Lake Mburo National Park. Experience the scenic routes of the Kigezi region, with opportunities for photography at various stopovers.
Upon your arrival at the park, you have the option to embark on a boat trip on Lake Mburo or participate in a nature walk or walking safari accompanied by a ranger guide. Following this experience, you will return to your lodge for the essential rest you require.

Day 7: Transfer to Entebbe or Kampala.
After breakfast, embark on a short game drive before leaving the park, then proceed to Kampala. You will exit the park and pause at the Equator monument for lunch, souvenirs, and photo opportunities in both the northern and southern hemispheres.
