Detailed Itinerary for the Safari

Day 1: Nairobi- Amboseli National Park Nairobi

Upon arrival the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport, you will be met by our representative and transferred to Amboseli National Park, famous for its big game and scenic beauty with the landscape dominated by Mt. Kilimanjaro. It offers an interesting contrast with its dry and dusty appearance, which can be attributed to the volcanic ash that came out of Mt Kilimanjaro when it last erupted. In spite of the appearance, there is a continuous supply of water that gets filtered through volcanic rocks from Kilimanjaro’s melted snow. These streams flow underground, creating lush green areas, and converge at two clear water springs in the park.

You arrive in time for lunch at the lodge followed by an afternoon game viewing drive until sunset.

Dinner and overnight at Amboseli Sopa Lodge on full board.

Day 2: Amboseli National Park

Spend the day in the park on a full day game viewing. There’s a stunning variety of wildlife in this abundant park such as zebra, wildebeest, giraffe, impala, caracal and serval cat, lion, leopard, cheetah, and buffalo among others. There are also over 400 species of birds, including the bee-eater, kingfisher, African fish eagle, martial eagle and pygmy falcon. Visitors mainly come to watch the huge herds of elephants. The bull elephants have some of the largest tusks in all of Kenya. Visitors can also enjoy excellent views of Mt Kilimanjaro and Meru.

Dinner and overnight at Amboseli Sopa Lodge on full board

Day 3: Amboseli- Aberdare

Depart after breakfast and drive to the lush foothills of the Aberdare ranges. You arrive for a late lunch at the Aberdare Country Club, an elegant baronial style country home set in sprawling superbly landscaped gardens. Later, transfer to Aberdare National Park entering through the Ark gate. The first opportunity for wildlife viewing comes in a very unique setting, the Ark. The Ark was built to resemble the biblical Ark where you will stay overnight and have the opportunity to view animals as they come to drink along a natural waterhole. Here you may see elephant, rhino, bongo (rare nocturnal antelopes with black on tan stripes) and other species.

Day 4: Aberdare- Masai Mara

Depart after breakfast and drive to the world renown Maasai Mara Game Reserve, which means the “spotted plains” in Mara language. This is home to the greatest concentration of large mammals and is widely recognized as Africa’s ultimate wildlife reserve. The park neighbors Tanzania’s Serengeti and has therefore become famous its annual migration of wildebeest.

Check-in upon arrival followed by lunch and depart later for an evening game viewing drive in this spectacular place of breathtaking sceneries, never-ending plains and the most abundant variety of wildlife remaining anywhere in the world. The landscape is made up of rolling savannahs dotted with patchy shrubs and bush thickets.

Dinner and overnight at SENTRIM MARA CAMP on full board.

Day 5: Masai Mara

During your stay, you have the opportunity to explore this great reserve in depth. You may see elephant, giraffe, prides of lion, and thousands of impalas, Topi, grants and Thomson’s gazelle. Birds are prolific including immigrants, 450 bird species have been recorded among them 57 birds of prey. The Mara is the scene of annual migration of millions of wildebeest up from the Serengeti plains in search of water and grasses. While in Mara, you will have the option to float above the Mara-Serengeti ecosystem on board a hot air balloon followed by a gourmet champagne breakfast (at an extra cost).
