The 9 Days Uganda safari starts from Entebbe to Mabamba swamp for shoebill experience, Lake Mburo for a morning nature walk and canoe ride, Bwindi Impenetrable national Park for Gorilla Trekking, Queen Elizabeth National Park for game drive and Boat cruise on Kazing Channel and Kibale forest national park for chimpanzee habituation expereience.

Detailed Itinerrary for a 9 days Uganda Safari

Day 1: Arrival at Entebbe International Airport

Pick up your car from Entebbe International Airport, and drive yourself to your hotel in Entebbe and relax, otherwise relax and unwind at the beach so as to rest from the Long day journey. From here, you will proceed to your hotel/lodge for dinner and an overnight rest.

Day 2: Mabamba Swamp(shoe bill) to Lake Mburo National Park

On this day 2 of 14 days Uganda self drive safaris, you will drive to Mabamba swamp situated on the Lake Victoria shores. This is an extensive papyrus swamp which is also one among the few swamps in Uganda that’s protected by the local communities. The swamp has a plethora of channels and lagoons, and is natural habitat to a number of Shoebill pairs, Uganda’s most prominent avian resident. These shoebill is undeniably among the most sought-after birds in Africa. You will paddle through the channels by boat as you enjoy the breathtaking vistas of the classic East African water birds to observe along the way.

After here, proceed for lunch and later drive to Lake Mburo National park, where you will reach in late afternoon-perfect time for you game drive, where you will sport Zebras, Elephants, Buffaloes, Impalas, Topis, as well as numerous bird your way around the lodge.

 

Day 3: Lake Mburo National Park

On this days, you will enjoy your first savanna experience into the small and accessible Lake Mburo National Park. You will rise up early for an early morning breakfast, after which you will proceed for your morning nature walk and canoe ride on Lake Mburo.

Return for lunch and embark on another walk around the Lodge till evening. Retire at your lodge in the even, while you enjoy the golden sun setting, dinner will be served and later head back for goodnight sleep.

Day 4: Journey to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park

From Lake Mburo, you will drive for about 6 to 7 hours to southwestern Uganda, as you smoothgly navigate through Mbarara, Kabale then to Kisoro. From here you will continue to Rushaga or Nkuringo. Where you will arrive in your lodge in the afternoon and later take enough rest as you wait for dinner and time to sleep.

Day 5: Gorilla Trekking Experience in Bwindi Impenetrable NP

With a must have gorilla permit which costs $700 per person, per trek. Spend the day today trekking gorillas. You will, after an early morning breakfast drive to the park headquarters for the briefing about the rules and regulations for gorilla trekking, after which you will enter the jungle with 2 ranger guides and other members of your group. Gorilla trekking usually takes between 2-8 hours, depending on how far the gorillas might have moved.

Return to the Lodge for your dinner and an overnight

Day 6: Transfer to Queen Elizabeth National Park

From Bwindi National Park, you will drive for 4 hours to Queen Elizabeth national Park, through the southern region of the Isasha, where you might chance to spot the tree climbing lions hanging enormously on the branches of the fig trees. The southern area of Isasha is famous for its resident ‘tree-climbing’ lions that are a unique attraction the major highlight all safaris taken within the park.

Besides the tree climbing Lions in the southern area of Isasha, Queen Elizabeth National Park is also a home to a number of the Uganda Kob, who frequently graze on the plains. They are also considered as the primary food of the Lions.

Arrive at the lodge in time for lunch, check in, and later on proceed for your afternoon boat cruise on the Kazinga channel-which connects lake George and Lake Edward. The boat cruise allows for impressive viewing of the wild game including a large herd of elephants at the shores, hippos, Buffaloes, some crocodiles and numerous bird species. Return to the Lodge for dinner and an overnight.

Day 7: Morning Game drive transfer to Kibale forest national

Rise up for breakfast and later proceed for the early morning game drive during which you will see Lions, Elephants, Topis, Leopards, Bush bucks, Cape Buffaloes, Defassa Waterbucks, Giant Forest Hogs. You will then return to the Lodge for Lunch and later proceed to Kibale Forest national, where you will arrive at your lodge for dinner and an overnight.

Day 8: Chimpanzee Habituation Experience in Kibale

Transfer to Kanyanchu Visitor center for briefing on the rules and regulations of chimpanzee tracking at 08.00 am. After here you will enter into the forest to look for the chimpanzees, along with your ranger guide. Trekking to find the chimpanzees may take about 2 to 8 hours, because it depends on how far they have moved. For a maximum of 1 hour will be allowed to stay in the presence of the chimpanzees as you watch them interact with people. From here, you will return to the Park headquarters to pick your chimpanzee tracking certificate, and later on head for lunch at the Lodge.

Embark on your afternoon nature walk at the Bigodi swamp after your lunch. You have great chances of spotting numerous bird type and other monkey species, after with you will return for dinner and overnight sleep

Day 9: Return to Entebbe International Airport

Have breakfast and drive back to Entebbe international Airport, where you will drop the car, and later on proceed to catch up with your evening flight back home.
